The expelled ANC Youth League president Jullius Malema turned the memorial service into an anti-Jacob Zuma platform. The memorial service of the 34 mine workers who died during the strike was held in marikana yesterday.Malema addressed the assembled mourners by saying that the government has failed its people and has called for Zuma to leave the presidency. "The government has turned into a pig" said Malema " It eats its own people". Malema accused the Marikana tradegy inter-ministerial committees of not doing enough for the workers. The committee is led by minister in the presidency Collins Chabane. The ANC ministers were unable to respond to the allegations by malema. He further said that they only attended the memorial service for publicity purposes. Several ministers could not bear what was said by malema and left the service early. The ministers included :
  • Siyabonga Cwele (intelligence)
  • Collins Chabane
  • Nosiviwe Mapasa-Nqakula (defencer0
  • Aaron Motsoded (health)

North West premier Thandi Madis and others had to be escorted out of the venue." I want to thank the combrades from the friend of the Youth League because they paid for this tent.Your government did not pay for anything to assist you.The only reason they are here is to pose for the cameras to ensure it can be recorded that they were here" he said.Malema called for the mine workers to be nationalised." We are here with you.You must soldier on.Never listen to cowards. On Tuesday Malema accused Zuma of being a weak leader, meaning the way they handled the matter was not good enough, he also blamed the presidents administration for allowing the police to use real guns to shoot the miners." They will be removed from their positions" he said. The memorial service lost its purpose, and turned into a chaos as an unidentified man was escorted into the tent and greeted Malema before he could grab the microphone to call for Zuma's resignation." Jullius Malema is the president of the ANC.Stand up so they can see you" he said before being chased off the stage. The service was supposed to be held in honer of the victims of the police shootings not the time for pointing fingers as to who is responsible, and calling people names.

  1. What was really expected of Malema there? He does not care about how the victim’s families are going through just as long as he will make his point and make everything about him. A memorial service is supposed to be about the people that have passed on but no Malema had to make it about politics and about who is doing what wrong. What he did was wrong and I still say, he should stay away from politics because it is making him not think strait.

    1. I agree with you Mblalenhle when you say juju should stay away from politics he causes more damage. What he did at the memorial service was wrong turning it into an anti zuma platform. People are grieving for their loved ones who passed away and he is busy dicing others that was neither the time nor the place for all of that. Someone needs to put him in his place.

  2. At times i feel like Mr Malema does not think be he speaks. Memorial services are meant to honour and show respect to the ones who have passed on but in this case this was not achieved seeing that it turned out to be an anti-Zuma platform.

    1. What he did was so wrong on so many levels.one would think that the memorial service was a meeting for ANC members and yet it was not. What is worse is that some people were pleased with what he did. I still say that was not the time or the place for him to talk like that.
